A Rough Start!!

So on Monday Kendall started running a fever...we thought due to teething. So Tuesday her fever was getting higher and higher even with Ibuprofen, so of course this landed us at the pediatrician's office. After blood work, and urine tests (which they had to get by Cathing her...no fun) we find out that she has a Kidney infection!!!! Scary! so she was given a shot of antibiotics and some to take by mouth at home for the next ten days...then they told us that they were sending a culture of her urine to the hospital lab for testing.
So they called me today and told me that it was in fact a Kidney infection and that they are going to refer us to Children's for further tests, because its not normal for her to have a Kidney infection at 8 months old and they need to find out why she is having them. Their number one suspect is Kidney Reflux.
Its hard not to cry and be sad that one of my precious babies might have a problem or possibly need surgery...but then I have to say if this is the only health problem that any of my children have then we need to thank the good Lord and move on.
I do have to say that I do feel especially bad because its Kendall. Kendall (technically our baby) has had a rough start. they were born two months premature and so they stayed in the NICU for six weeks. During this six weeks Kendall contracted a MRSA staff infection and had to have a cyst on her wrist drained, and had to be put into an isolation room away from all the other babies (even her sister) and we had to wear these special gowns and gloves to touch her. So when they got home they got RSV. Then Kendall's hemangeoma ulcerated and would not heal and caused her EXCRUCIATING pain!! So she went to Children's to have surgery to have that removed. Then she got a break for a few months and two weeks ago she got tonsillitis..and now a Kidney infection...probably caused by and underlying issue.
I just hope that her issue isn't severe and after this she gets a very long break! She deserves it!!

Overworked!!

So to fill everyone in here, Jake (my hubs) goes to work everyday (well M-F) at 3:30 a.m. and most people who have the unpleasant task of going to work that early usually get to go home around 2. Well not Jake. On a normal day he will get home anywhere between 3:30 and 6. Well tonight I am typing this blog at 8:45 and he is still at work!!! Yes, this is due to circumstances that aren't normal but still...Am I the only one who feels that this is a bit ridiculous?? what is even crazier is that my husband is one of the bosses! The "workers" under my husband are about at useless as a refrigerator in an igloo! He is totally in a "if you want it done right do it yourself" situation. So because he is overworked that spills over into me being overworked. I mean the "assistants" that he has are all at home with their families tonight. All I can say is that the people that work for him better be glad that I am not in charge of hiring and firing at that place because they would all be unemployed!! well I guess I am finished ranting about this....That is all.

Girls, Girls, Girls...................

So I haven't written in a while, but my life is INSANE. Tonsillitis went running through all the members of our house like wildfire, which meant everyone had a trip to the doctor. While experiencing this I got to thinking about the extra cost of having twins that we didn't see coming. Sure, when we were told that we were having twins at our eight week sonogram, we thought of the obvious-double diapers, double formula and baby food..etc. but its the things like double co-pays at the check-ups...that's right, when we go for the nine month check-up in July it will be two co-pays, even though its one appointment time and one exam room used. Double the laundry detergent...every time I turn around I need more laundry detergent, because of double the laundry, double the times the dishwasher is ran...they do use alot of bottles. Its funny the things you overlook in the excitement of it all. But the upside to all of that is I do get double the giggles, double the kisses and double the hugs. and I add that to the wonderful big sister they have. but as I look into our future, looking at things like triple the PMS, triple the boy trouble and triple the clothes...I think I'm gonna need a life preserver because we are going to be drowning in the drama!!!

The Power of the Middle Name...

So as we all know when you are in trouble as a child you always get "middle named". This tradition has been carried out in my house as well..."Lillian Shaye, I said stop banging on that.." or "Lillian Shaye, stop trying to tie up your sister." etc, etc...So the other day I took something away from Lily, I believe it was a pencil, and she got very upset with me and told me to put it down. When I informed her that she was not to speak to me that way she said "Mommy Shaye...put it down!" I had to turn my head the other way so that I didn't laugh right in front of her!!! Lily has found the power of the middle name, but doesn't realize that she can't exercise that power until she has her own kids. :)

Greasing the Wheels

We went to Lily's art show at her school yesterday afternoon, and it was great....they had the entire gymnastium covered in art work by all the kids..even the 6 month olds had some. We talked with her teachers who did nothing but praise Miss Lily on how well behaved and well mannered she is..and in my head I am thinking....are you talking about MY child??? lol. Lily is in that "great for everyone else but horrible for mama and daddy" phase. So we get home and I had to proceed to "grease the wheels"...poor Lily gets backed up easy.. I put some lactolose in with her juice and boy did it work. The problem is that it kicked in at 1:30 in the morning....and keept she and I both up until 4:30!!!! It was a Long night!!!!!!!!! The upside is that she is no longer grumpy from not going. :)

Makin' Bows

So I decided that instead of paying like $10 for a hairbow, that I would make them myself...and I did. These are just some of the ones that I have made so far. I am quite proud of them. I also made some little tiny ones for the babies..they are cute too.  Lily loves to have her hair bows in...if her hair is up in any way she wants a hair bow....when I showed them to her she said "wow...beautiful.." how sweet :)
